Schools & Campuses

Keep every lesson powered, day and night.

Schools and universities need steady power for computers, labs, water pumps, security and evening study, on tight budgets. We design solar and battery systems that keep campuses powered through outages and cut running costs, and we maintain them after handover.

Why solar for education

Reliable power leaves more of the budget for teaching.

Every shilling spent on grid tariffs and diesel is a shilling that does not go into teaching. Outages disrupt computer labs, exams and distance learning, and many campuses sit on weak rural grids or have no grid at all. Solar cuts the running cost and makes a campus far less dependent on the grid, with battery backup for boarding and evening study. For a rural school with no grid connection, an Off-Grid system can bring power for the first time.

Universities & Colleges

A large campus system tuned to the academic day cuts a heavy electricity bill.

Rooftop solar on the International University of East Africa campus in Kampala

Universities and colleges run dense classroom, admin and lab loads through the academic day. We build large rooftop systems sized to that daily pattern, so the campus uses the power directly, pays less for electricity and shows its green commitment on its roofs. Our largest campus system, 130 kWp, runs at the International University of East Africa in Kampala.

  • Tuned to academic-day load
  • Direct-consumption savings
  • Visible green commitment

Boarding & day

Secondary & Boarding Schools

We back up teaching and boarding loads with the same engineering we put into hospitals.

Solar installation at Gogolo Junior School in Kisubi, Uganda

Boarding schools run day and night, so a weak semi-rural grid disrupts both lessons and life in the dormitories. We build rooftop systems with substantial battery backup, to the same standard as our hospital designs, so classes and dormitories keep running through outages. At Gogolo Junior School in Kisubi, teaching runs uninterrupted and the boarders stay powered into the evening.

  • Uninterrupted teaching hours
  • Reliable evening boarding operations
  • Built to a hospital-grade standard

Skills & training

Vocational & Skills Centres

Workshops, classrooms and dormitories all need steady power, even on a weak grid.

Solar installation at the Soroti Youth Skills Centre in Uganda

Vocational and skills centres run power-hungry workshops alongside classrooms and residential blocks. We cover the whole site with solar and storage, often with training for students at handover, so the campus itself becomes a teaching tool. The Soroti Youth Skills Centre runs its training and boarding on steady solar power.

  • Workshops, classrooms and dorms covered
  • Student training on handover
  • Steady power on weak grids

Rural & off-grid

Primary Schools

Rural schools with no grid connection get power for the first time.

Off-grid solar at Amasiko Green School in Hamukaaka, Uganda

Many rural primary schools have no grid at all and run on candles and diesel. We build complete Off-Grid solar and battery systems for classrooms, lighting and ICT, and train a local technician so the school can look after the system itself. Amasiko Green School in Hamukaaka now runs teaching and evening study on solar.

  • Full off-grid independence
  • Classrooms, lighting and ICT
  • Local technician training
